Some Thoughts on Life

Life is a gift from God, but for some, it ends way too soon, at least from our perspective.

Forty-two is too young.

Sunday morning is too sudden.

The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD (Job 1:21).

Blessed be the name of the Lord, even in tears and grief.

Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth (Proverbs 27:1).

I read the news about DC and thought of you. I found your contact info here @ Stuff Out Loud. Maybe I’ll come back sometime and read your blog(s). I’m so sorry for you. I know you and DC were childhood – adulthood friends. He was so young. We are never promised tomorrow. Again, so sorry for your loss of a very dear special childhood friend. clhg

Thanks clhg. It is shocking and sobering. Unbelievably difficult in so many ways. Reminds us that life can be short. I still don't know what to say about it.

Larry - I was a classmate of yours back in elementary school/jr high at BJ. I moved away in the 2nd half of 8th grade. It was a shock to hear such sad news about a childhood friend. Hope you are doing well. Jennifer (Brown) Olsen

Thanks for posting a comment, Jennifer. I do remember you, and it is good to hear from you.

This news was so sudden. I just got back to Detroit from Atlanta this morning about 6 am. It was a great funeral considering the occasion. But it is still hard to grasp.

Things here are well. I have been in Detroit since 1996, and been pastoring at Grace Baptist Church in River Rouge since 1999.

Hope things are well with you.
